Paintings by
Tim Bowen

May 6th thru June 3rd

War and Peace is a continuation of Tim Bowen's large scale paintings which deal with various ironies and opposites. Each piece pairs two images, one which depicts atrocities and activities associated with war and the other a representation of the more trivial aspects of life. This series follows in the tradition of Goya and others who have addressed the horrors of war that perpetually plague humankind, and is a response to the present chaos and violence in Iraq and elsewhere. Each piece comments on the American ability to focus on our daily lives rather than the malevolence going on in the world around us.
